Rain vs Telkom

My Rain connection stopped working on 28 December, and is still not working. Afrihost haven't been particularly helpful, and I'm at my wits end.

So I'm thinking of cancelling and signing up with Telkom instead. Will the "free" router I got from Rain work with a Telkom sim card? And is there anything else I should be aware of that's different between the two?

Was the router 'free' or free after 6 months?
 
It's the B315. It was free, but if I cancel within 6 months I have to pay the R999 that it would have cost.

I'm hoping that the lack of service will convince them that I'm not cancelling just because I changed my mind, and they won't charge for the router. But I'm not holding my breath :)
 
Check whether the Huawei B315 supplied by Afrihost supports 2300MHz frequency band.

Some do however the one Rain supplies does not. Does not even look like it supports any TDD bands which was strange. There seems to be so many B315 models and providers importing different models.

Rain 315s should be B315s-22 (1800/2600)
Telkom 315s should be B315s-936 (1800/2300)

So yeah really just depends what model they sent you. Does not look like Rain is in fact supplying the B315s-22 but people with the B315 from Rain can confirm this.

Have a B315s-936 as supplied by Afrihost/Rain.
