Rainway lets you stream PC games to any device

Yeah I've been following this for a while now. Switch support could be amazing.

Can someone explain how this is useful?
I believe steam can do something similar.

Steam can do something similar yes, if you have some hardware that can use it, like the Steam Play. There's also an iOS and Android-based streamer called Moonlight, that uses Nvidia's GameStream tech to stream games to devices.

Rainway should allow you to install an app on your game consoles and stream the games from PC to your home console, so you could play PC games on PS4/XBOX One/Switch + Android/iOS. The real advantage of this, is that you can use the console controllers to play the games and you don't need any other hardware - and in the case of the Switch, you can play PC games in portable mode.

And you can chill on your couch and play games in comfort with your big surround sound system and huge TV instead of monitor and headphones.

Nvidia Shield also does this, but hard to get hold of in SA.
There's an Nvidia Gamestream client for Raspberry Pi that does the same thing, but I've never tried it.
Still, this will be convenient if priced right (and if better availability in SA than Shield / Steam Link)

ok so it's not just streaming, but actually let's you control the game? That would be awesome.
I thought it was just a version of Twitch as opposed to a semi-virtual machine.

Next step should be to host your games on some server in the cloud, and you just use another device to stream, ie thin client. Then you can just upgrade your hosted gaming machine on a monthly basis rather than paying the price for a new machine?

I'm pretty sure that's already being worked on as part of Nvidia Gamestream. They were speaking about that functionality at least a year ago.

There's already a pretty great service that offers cloud game streaming.

And yeah, I think Nvidia has a similar idea with Cloud Drive.
