RAM issues

Hey there.
I am hoping to pick someone's brains here over a strange issue I'm having with my PC. Its a relatively old i3 (dual core) on an MSI H55 E21 motherboard running Win 7 Home Pro 64 bit. A little while ago, about a year now, I bought a 4gig dimm of Corsair DDR3 1600 memory for it, and it ran like a charm (the PC was still on Win 7 32 bit at this time). I recently upgraded to the 64 bit version of Win 7 with no issues, and which has been runnng very stable for about 6 months now, but then yesterday I bought another dimm of the same Corsair memory (the timing is all the same) and fitted it last night. The PC will now not boot past the MSI splash screen no matter what I do. I cannot access the bios while its trying to boot either. If I remove either one of the dimms, the PC runs fine, but as soon as I put the second one in...no go! The mobo only has 2 RAM slots by the way. I ran CPUID last night, and it only see's the RAM as 1300and not 1600. Could this be a BIOS issue?
Any advice/help would be appreciated.

No Charlie...it works with both the new and old, but just not at the same time!
 
Does the 1300 show up with each chip individually or does the old chip read 1600?
Your ram speed is linked to the current clock speed on the CPU, you may only be able to get 1300.
First bit of advice is try turn off dual channel ram options if possible.
Can also try force the ram speeds (and timings) in bios if possible.
Try give us some info on CPU clock and multiplier values which could help us troubleshoot.
 
Looking at google, this seems to be a fault with this particular board.

It shows 1300 on each chip..

Thanks Vaughan..I'll have a bash tonight...unfortunately its on my PC at home. I'll run CPUID and post the findings tonight?
 
Thanks for the input and suggestions guys..I'm going to try a few things tonight. I think I should also be looking at upgrading too...1156 boards are few and far in between!
 
Put one RAM stick in, enter the BIOS and force it to use 1333mhz.

Then try both.
