So I built the gf a PC with a couple parts of carbonite and some new.

CPU: i5 3450 (new)
MOBO: P8H67-m lx (2nd hand) (not sure of the bios version)
RAM: 2x2GB (1333 1.5v) some generic kingston and some other brand the guy threw in with the mobo.
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 560ti OC (2nd hand)
PSU: XFX 550w (new)

So power on, DRAM LED goes solid red, nothing on the screen.
Press the DRAM button to test the memory configurations.
It does the normal cycle of power on, flashes red for a bit restarts, flashes, etc and so on for a while.
Decided it's getting no where, so powered off.
So cleared the CMOS using the Clear RTC RAM procedure and tested with each DIMM individually.
Buuuut no success.

So going test them in my machine tonight when I get a chance, as they were just chucked together no packaging etc.. So they could be damaged.

Other parts of the system have been disconnected and I've double checked the PSU connections, also tried connection the screen to the mobo and GPU.

I just want to know if anyone knows if the bios version could be giving an issue, as the memory controller is on the chip, which may not be recognised by the mobo? Hence the RAM issue. I've just downloaded the correct version, but doubt I'll get to their EZ flash screen if board isn't even posting.

It's quite possible it's an out-of date Bios. Out of the box most H67 motherboards don't support
Ivy Bridge 3xxx processors, since they were made for Sandy Bridge 2xxx CPU's.

I'm pretty sure all H67 Chipset motherboards can be updated to fully support Ivy Bridge, it's
just the H61 which is stuck on Sandy Bridge.

A quick question which could determine whether the CPU is acknowledged by the motherboard:
If you take the RAM out and power the machine on, do you get a beep code?

Never tried that  Will have to test and see. Doubt the mobo has a speaker though will have to find one, as the case doesn't have one.

EDIT: I see someone already posted the same before me ;)

That motherboard's BIOS is probably too old to support the Ivy Bridge CPU.

You'll most likely have to install a Sandy Bridge CPU in it, update its BIOS and then install the Ivy Bridge CPU again.

Hai! Those parts worked fine with a sandy mate :P If you like you can bring it back my side and i'll give a hand to try flash it

(He bought the board and RAM from me)

Thanks man, no I trust it was working, but things do happen when uninstalling and installing. I'll contact you tonight to find out when you free?

Hehe i'm joking :) Yeah sure,if you want you can drop it too and I can flash it

I've already built the whole box, so no point in having you rebuild it either, I'll just swing past with the machine, then we can pop the CPU in flash the bios. Easy peasy :)
