RAM prices are ridiculous

if i had Money Like Elon Musk, I Wont Pay that much for RAM i prefer Laptops not Desktops.

If A Laptop out The Box NEW comes with 64 GB RAM DDR5 6Ghz i would be happy with that

Using these 'adapter' kits don't have that big penalty on gaming.

Further testing is needed. Longer gaming sessions need to be reviewed.
Unfortunately this won't help much. Ddr5 Sodimm is also becoming scarce.

Steve sensationalised this, but it is more or less the same thing that I have been saying. The likelihood that this is happening in real-time is kinda high.

It is not only Nvidia, SK Hynix, and whomnot, but now almost the entire silicon industry. Yes, it is plausible that the consumer is being starved, and that computing and acceleration are being ushered into data centre control.

Why, well, consumer electronics pose a danger to what some consider as national security. Everyone has their viewpoint on this.

This shouldn't only scare gamers, it should scare the average computer user, it should scare business. The probabilities don't look good.

For a government that said that they are the most pro-gamer yet, it isn't a good look.

Ownership and privacy are invaluable. It deserves to be treasured. There are too many movements against people having the right to ownership and privacy. I like Steve could be mongering, but the stars aren't aligned with us ordinary people.

I hope that the next year or two, that conditions could improve.

From a work perspective, I know that there will be things that will be put on hold in 2026. Something that I am involved in now is already suspended.

There is more to this than mere AI.

This is plan B for if (read when) AI fails to make money.

And this will fail as well.

Why? Because the vast majority of people use their computer for web browsing and watching movies and basically every computer is capable of that.
Data center compute is only useful to people who need serious ram and processing for massive science projects or... you guessed it... AI.

These companies can only be anti-consumer for so long. Because doing so is being financed by AI borrowing. At the end of the day the AI companies still need the consumer to pay off those borrowed funds or the house of cards will come crashing down.

Edit: Nvidia is of course the exception here. They convinced everyone to buy a billion GPUs from them at insanely inflated prices and if that ends they can just go back to ripping off gamers like they have been for years. Same with RAM producers.

How, they can't build a ram fab in only a year? All they can do is guarantee their own supply by paying a **** ton to reserve manufacturing capacity
FYI you ain't buying capacity......capacity for 2026 is sold out, capacity 2027 is going fast as well. There is no spare capacity to go around....nada, nothing, zero......You have better odds getting hit by a bus, in a bus free zone, that getting capacity next year.

LOL, this way everyone can have fun and not just a few of you gamers with your RTX 5090 "rigs". :)

Give it a few more months and watch how all the tech you use on a regular basis gets more and more expensive due to this.

The PC Master Race is just the "canary" in this instance showing that its proper fscked.
