Hello all,

Windows XP,
I have a Pentium 4CPU 3.60GHz
3.60 GHz. 3.50GB RAM

My pc performance is sticking in the work I use it for.
How much more RAM can I put in, to make it not stick an crash.
And what else? What are the prices +-

Thanks

XP 32 bit will not even see the full 3.5gig you have now, i would suggest an upgrade to a core 2 machine or if on tight budget even an AMD X2 will help you out.

What exactly are you using the pc for ?

what work do you do?

have u tried reloading the machine? xp starts running badly after a year or so, become slow and bogged down(cricket term)

You need a 64-bit CPU and operating system if you want more RAM. I don't think a 32-bit environment can use more than 3.25GB of RAM.

To be honest, a decent dual-core processor would probably help you a lot more than more RAM. But you'd probably end up getting one anyway, if you wanted to go 64-bit.

Well recording engineer, pc runs in the recording studio.

Reloaded Windows Xp last week. Can I put more ram in, or isnt it possible, with the current bit

Thanks
J

why would u need more than 3 gigs?

you must have ahardware problem because those p4 cpu run pretty well, if your running a cpu intensive program then best you upgrade to core 2 cpu's or even quadcore's

Yeah you'll need a Core2 or Quad if you are complaining on a +3GB ram system
