Hi everyone

I must get some new RAM to go with my Z87 mobo and i5. Must I do 2x4GB or 2x8GB? 1333 vs 1600MHz? Where is the best prices on RAM?

Thanks in advance

Depending on what you mainly use your PC for, 2x 4GB is most probably sufficient. Always go for the highest speed your motherboard and CPU support (or if the 1600 MHz is cheaper but your CPU only supports 1333 MHz, take the 1600 MHz anyway).

Is R500 your budget?

dj_jyno, is right depending on what you are using your PC for the ram requirements will differ. Day to Day emails, MS Office things, even high end gaming will only need 8gigs. Any video/audio editing or rendering will require more in some cases depending on what you are doing and the rest of your PC components. And if your motherboard supports dual channel memory make sure you have 2 dimms hence 2 x 4gigs so you can make use of that feature.

I'm running, 2 x 4gigs, G.Skill Sniper 8GB (4GBx2) DDR3-2133MHz , and I just play games. You can pick those up for R1000.

I am mainly using the pc for gaming, but not overclocking. My cpu only supports up to 1600MHz dual channel ddr 3. I see wootware has some specials. 2x4GB for sub R1000

No, I just happened to be buying a replacement PSU the other day, and I thought I may as well pick up some RAM as well. I was flabbergasted at the price is all.

Then you'll be fine with 8gigs. Wootware is reliable and helpful.
