Rand takes a beating

The rand continues to be flung around by external factors, the most prevalent of which is the imposition of a 30% tariff on exports to the United States.

If I have to guess, this tariffs mess has been priced in already. No one expected our government to actually sort this out.

After hitting as high as R18.35 to the dollar after the tariffs were confirmed on Friday, the rand pulled back to around the R18.00/$ level on Monday.

There is no beating. I expect some fluctuation at the end of this week when the tariffs actually come in but I don't think it is going to be dramatic.

Will be interesting to see if the tariff charges take a hit on the US economy again, like it did last time, as I don't think Trump has as many "deals" as he was expecting to have.

But it could be a nice time to do a dump and pump again for his companies for a period of time.

Broadmedias reporting quality is the reason I have add blockers active on their websites.

The forum is what keeps me coming back, not the clickbait/ragebait reporting.

This topic is an example of that.
