I know I'm going to get laughed at for posting this, but since I hardly ever call any Telkodemonopolies landline numbers, I have lost that common knowledge I used to have about which exchange prefixe(s) belong to the Randburg area - I vaguely remember 011787 but that's probably a figment of my imagination.

Having said that, I have 2 questions:
  1. Is there more than one Telkodemonopolies Exchange in the Randburg area, and where are the exchanges physically located?
  2. What are the different exchange prefixes for the Randburg area? i.e. 011xxx
The reason I want to know all this, is that I currently have a pathetic HomeDSL313.6kbits/s line attached to the Olivedale exchange, and the copper distance is too large, so Telkodemonopolies will not upgrade me to 512kbits/s or even 1Mbits/s, and I did try running the Telkodemonopolies-WiMax gauntlet last week but was told that I was not allowed to have WiMax since I have ADSL - pathetic as it is. Now Randburg is also close by, so I'm considering ordering a new Telkodemonopolies line with a Randburg number, but I need to know the different exchange prefixes for when I place the order [more like if], as well as where the Randburg Exchange(s) are located so I can determine if the copper distance will be too large there as well. I did try extracting this info from Telkodemonopolies, but it's allegedly top secret stuff...

i doubt u will make it to the randburg exchange

the closest one to you would be down ostrich road which im sure is more than 5 kilo's from olivedale

Don't know if you know about this page:

List of exchanges in Gauteng
Wow  thanks, I notice there are quite a few Randburg area codes, including 011787.

I don't suppose anyone has the GPS coords for the Randburg exchanges? :D

I'm not actually in Olivedale - I'm actually on the other side of the highway, but sadly my line runs a convoluted path and is attached to the Olivedale exchange. I should actually drive past the Bryanston exchange [the one I know about] and check GPS distance and then multiple by convoluted_path_factor, but I'm sure there must be a Randburg exchange nearby.

On the WiMax front, I got the impression that Telkodemonopolies has sited its WiMax base-stations at actual exchanges as opposed to putting up masts in the bundus...
