hey

over the last week or so my connection has been acting strange.
i will be browsing and the speed just drops to nothing and i have to wait a while or reconnect for it to be normal again.
i also get randomly droped from war3.co.za while on the server.

i have an external antenna and my signal is decent for my area.
i have also noticed that i have swoped base stations and i cant get my old one back with the same signal.

Where about are you?

It sounds like your problem is that you changed basestations. But lately I also got dropped a few times from battle.net, while in a game. It hasn't happened again in a while...

Try moving your antennae around to see if you can get the old BS back. It should only have swapped permanently if the new one is better.

i am in germison and was connecting to the primrose hill bs but now am connected to the bramley north bs wich cant be? no matter where i move antenna i cant get primrose back at the same signal.my signal is still basically the same though!

my dl speeds are still decent, so i dont know what the problem is?

Where are you getting those names from btw? Because the numbers have been shuffled around some time ago, and if you are using UTTracestar then the tower numbers wont correspond to the right names any more.

If you signal is still okay then I think it might even have been a problem with the war3.co.za server over the last few days. In the last week the entire server crashed and was down for a few hours and everyone got kicked from all games twice now.

Like I said I haven't had many problems lately, are you still getting dropped?

ya am using uttracestar so the bs is probably wrong, havent been dropped in the last 3 hours or so, but web pages still dont load because no connection can be found?
phoned iburst this morning to see if by some miricale they could fix it, so will see they said they would get back to me but nothing yet!

Please let me know where you are, I would like to send someone to check your antennae out.

PM me?

Dropping of connection

There is one major old fashioned Transvaal thunderstorm in progress scaring the living daylights (should be night-lights) out of me at the moment.

8 metre mast reaching into the darkness searching for lightning! Almost forgot what I was going to say whilst waxing lyrical.

As long as you have a weak signal, your connection will continue to be dropped. This was my experience until I installed the said 8 metre mast with directional Yagi antenna from Radiant Antennas. Works like a charm and doesn't drop connection at any time.

I just hate the TVL thunderstorms. This is the trade-off - drop signal frequently or crap yourself waiting for the big one that takes out all electronics. Make sure you have backups. It has just cost me 6 grand for data recovery!!!!! That ain't hay!! The problem wasn't lightning - simple lack of investment and forsight. Fixed now. Hindsight + 20/20 vision.

I have great hindsight!

aghh you beat me by 2m!!

also have directional antenna up a pole. get signal strength of about -84db in poor region wich isnt bad. ive never had these connection problems before!

i havent disconnected in about 5 hours! so maybe its fixed??

With me, the disconnects start happening around the time that my bandwith usage hits the 20Gb mark.

If I then buy additional bandwidth, then the disconnects miraculously stop.

I have a 2m antenna ontop of my roof, so signal isn't the issue.

yes thanks for the quick response.
have still had one or two disconnects in the last couple of days but otherwise all is ok.
