Ransomware can take over your TV

Mobile malware capable of locking down smartphones has made its way to smart TVs, a security company has revealed.

I was tricked into paying a fee when I bought my TV, and have subsequently been tricked into paying that same fee every year since. The scamsters even formed a parastatal company, called SABC, to collect this money from me.

There is another scam doing the rounds as well. The criminals will install an electronic box in your lounge and unless you pay them close to R1,000 a month in ransom, you won't be able to watch sport on your telly. They will also place a large, white and round mark on the homes of those that they have swindled successfully.
Be diligent out there, folks. Don't become a statistic.
