This doesn't say how it is done. Weren't applications like ActiveX and Flash removed because of this?

Really wish scoped storage was a more normal thing on desktops (within reason), I hate that most applications have full access to the user's drive just because, which could help in limiting or preventing things similar to this.

However, it looks like in this case they're using the newer storage access API on Chromium to ransom a recursive directory you give access to which is a shame, instead rather make a new folder for stuff you only want to upload to the browser and nothing else (and back those up!).

How's it these days? I stopped reading about it after they got bought by an ad company and everyone moved on to LibreWolf, but users appear from time to time so it couldn't have been too bad...

Chrome rushes in rubbish and has a bigger threat profile as a result.

I really do not see the point to this browser. All it does is change a few settings of Firefox to become slightly less violating. But it can't even disassociate itself from Mozilla, what with being integrated with Firefox Accounts, using Mozilla for location, push, codec downloads, etc. And all that means massive amounts of data collection that Moz is famous for.
