I was contacted by Nedbank fraud to tell me that Mastercard had instructed them to cancel my card due to the details possibly being compromised by an overseas company.

They told me it will take 7 working days to issue me with a new card. I explained that I cannot be without my card and was told they could put a temporary hold on the card, which would let me use it if I phoned them before swiping.

I presumed they would be making my new card in this time.

10 Days later I had not heard anything about my new card being ready. I phoned my branch, and was referred back to the fraud division, who tell me that they cannot issue me with a new cheque card until the old one is cancelled completely.

This would leave me without a working card for 7 days, and this is unacceptable because I cannot be without a card which I use for transactions on the internet every few days.

I find it unacceptable that they cannot issue a new cheque card while the old one has a temporary hold. That would at least allow me to use the card with the temporary hold until the new card is ready.

However, I found an easy solution to this, I opened an account with FNB, used my Nedbank card with the temporary hold until my new FNB card was ready, transfered my funds across, and then closed my Nedbank account.

Quite unbelievable that Nedbank cannot work out a solution to make sure their clients have a working card at all times.

Disgusting levels of service. They just don't care!

Opening an account with FNB was an absolute pleasure. Filled in the application online, and they couriered the card to me and collected my fica documents.

THANK YOU FNB.

I got the most ridiculous reply yesterday from Nedbank Ask Once, obviously the clown who answered did not even read my question. I asked for the address of somebody in management so I could show them the thread. No answer - SURPRISE.

If you really that upset go see your personal banker, that is why they have them.
