Three years ago, I bought a LG 32" LCD (HD Ready) TV. Early December 2009, I installed a HD PVR only to find that the HDMI port on the tv has some kind of problem where the HD picture would be on for two seconds and the off again for two seconds. I reported this to the salesman I bought it from (also early December 2009) whilst buying a new 42" LG LH70 Scarlet TV. He said that LG would probably repair it since it seemed that it was a programming error.

It took them a month and a half just to collect it from my house (26 January), another 2 weeks to come up with a quote for R 2000 to repair something that never worked from day one (saying that the TV's warranty had lapsed. Then about two weeks later they said they will handle it as a warranty claim (+/- 22 Feb 2010).

All the while, I have to phone around and visit the dealer, only to hear that I must be patient......

Yesterday, I collected the tv from LG's repair agents (11 March) unrepaired, I wrote everyone concerned an email saying that I'm fetching it whether it has been repaired or not and nobody even responded.

At least it works on SD ..... not what I signed up for when buying it, but at least I don't have to wonder where it is and what is happening to it.

So, if you were to send in a LG product for repair .... good luck.

LG usually has a Free Out of warranty service that they run once a year, usually around August/September, so if you can wait take it for repairs then and you won't get charged..

Also learnt my lesson with LG (Lousy Goods) - now have Samsung and no issues, and the service is top notch when there's an issue.

+1 for the Sinotech products - 5 years guarantee is really great, and a friend of mine had his LCD swopped out in the 2nd year when it gave hassles - brand new LCD...

I now want to buy a Blu Ray writer .... take a guess which brand I'm not buying.
