Who is currently at fault, is it telkom, and its arrogant manner, Doc and its lack of interest in empowerment of SA, what about the SNO, do they have any responsiblity in where fault is shed ?

Until we the consumers band together to become a force worth noting, or government, or any institution with enough weight to dislodge a monopoly stands up for what is right, this is in the most part hot air.

We know Telkom is in the wrong, we have known this for years, we also know that our DoC is unwilling, or amazingly inept, at doing their job for the people of SA, ICASA is without teeth and being run into the ground, the ASA is the only group doing anything and now they seem to be loosing ground.

Be proud SA, we the people are letting this happen, its not governments fault, its not ICASA's fault, nor DoC, or ASA , in the end not entirely Telkoms fault, its ours, we have the ability to turn this around, but we somehow lack the insight and solidarity required.

We as the people of this country should be making the DoC do what is right for the people of SA, we should be fighting for ICASA to be a force worth noting, we should be doing so much and yet all we do is moan about our fates, surf the internet on our crippled ADSL, call our friends and sulk on our horribly priced telephone lines, and it stops there.
If I was to stand up and say no more, cancel my ADSL and Telkom phone line, what good would it do, would any one follow, I doubt it, most people would shrug and not even give it a second thought, and then proceed use the telkom service.
We see how in countries the people resist monopolies by sanction of the product, or by mass gatherings in the streets, we do nothing, and in all I think this cancels our right to moan about how bad things are.
If we are not prepared to find a solution, then I dont think we have the right to moan about the problem.

All of the above IMO, but... the Government should take the flack as they are after all at the top of the chain and responsible for the state of affairs.

I thought TELKOM was a parastatal company, i.e. Gove gets a big lump of the profits ?? Much like the MRC, SAIMR, Spoornet, Eskom, and HSRC??

Am I mistaken?

Telkom is a parastatal. Telkom generates serious income for the government.

The government can change the situation if it wanted to. It does not want to. Unbudgeted income can be used to fill the troughs without having to accont for it.

yup, i think the more exopsure the media gives to the way they rip us off the more the gov is getting cornered.
