Rapidshare Problems

I am new here, so please dont flame me if I'm flogging an old horse.

For about a month now, I am unable to download any rapidshare.com files at all. All I get is a 'session invalid' error displayed after I fill in the security image text and press enter.

I know I could get a paid account, but I am not an avid downloader who will be using it a lot. Currently, using the free download facility is sufficient for my needs, if the damn thing worked. Getting a paypal account to buy a Rapidshare account with a SA credit card is another issue in itself.

From my research, I have read in this forum, and in others, that this is due to Telkom directing us adsl users through a 'Transparrent Proxy' which servers like Rapidshare think are IP adresses abused by a single user.

Hence, denial of service, frustration and rapidly greying hair.

I have tried some anonymous proxy programs (names withheld), but all of them don't seem to work, as they have restrictions on Rapidshare type sites or dont mask the transparrent IP roadblock.

Is there any way to byepass Telkom's rediculous restrictions (intended or not) here, so I can access Rapidshare again.

Dont feel bad man, i bought a premium account and it was just as useless. It wouldnt log me in and told me the downloads were not there anymore, but when i tried to get them with the free option they could be downloaded. what a load a crap. rapid c r a p.

Yeah, if you have a proxy with a static IP you could. Find someone with a dedicated server in the states and you're sorted.
 
Ok, Rapidshare sorted.

This is what u need.

1. Do a google search for the program named 'CMS Grabber'. I wont add a link here, because it is always found in different places, and it is being updated all the time. On this note, if the program ceases to work after a while, get the updated version.

2. go to the URL

http://www.checker.freeproxy.ru/checker/last_checked_proxies.php

Here you get a list of updated anonymous static proxies, which can be used. Note: Not all the proxies work, so keep cutting and pasting into the program, and grab until you get the downloader working.

Of course, once you have used a proxy to download a file, your proxy will be flagged and will no longer work. Simply go down the list and use another. This is not a premium account hack.

Quite self-explanatory when you try it.

Hopefully, this posting will prevent a lot of pulled hair.
 
just my 2 cents .. my isp is telkom and i bought a premium account after all the damn waiting for download slots and i must say that was the best decision i made cos im now able to download without frustration and waiting and am also able to download using a download manager and the speeds wow ... fast

And to add my two cents as well. I went the premium download route (not sure what the original poster is complaining about paypal, for me it was fast and easy).

I am downloading from rapidshare at very good speeds and never have any problems.

I also have a rapidshare.com premium account and I have a problem on almost every file greater than about 90MB (and I have tried many). I've tried three different download managers and Firefox's own download manager without success.

After downloading about 95%-99% of the file there is an error and then the managers report that the download is not resummable.

So I am stuck only able to download smaller files.

I have Googled and Googled and not found anyone with a similar problem.

Can anyone think what the problem is, or what the solution might be?

I use orbit downloader (http://www.orbitdownloader.com/index.htm) and flashgot (http://www.flashgot.net) a Firefox addon, this helps identify you correctly, otherwise you will have problems downloading files from rapidshare once you get past 95%.

And also have you entered your rapidshare account details into your download manager?

My rapidshare downloads are excellent.

Hey! Thanks for those tips.

I have Flashgot already, but will try Orbit.

I have not entered my rapidshare login in my downloader, but I've never had a problem like this until recently. Going to do it, though.

Will let you know if it solves my problem.

Rapidshare passwords????

I wanna to throw an rock into the bush here....................!!
I'm a Rapidshare premium acount holder. I have a problem with files that gets downloaded and once opened, the damn password
doesn't work for the rar file. I'm talking about 200 300 mg files, rar or zipped, then you open it, start unzipping, and walla...."Incorrect password for rar archive" I then contact the original person who posted the stupid file, and he says.....Oh, mine works fine, use winrar 3.62. This guy thinks I'm an idiot.
But before this I downloaded also but, free. And funny enough, all the rar files works fine once opened or unrarred????
I even complained by Rapidshare, up to now I got no answer from them.
......
Makes you think??

I had a similar problem with rar passwords until I updated my unrar program. An excellent free decompressor is IZArc. Google for it.

I did update my Winrar to 3.62 or wjatever they said to me, but the problem persisted.
Can it be the RAR program that causes the password to go corrupt or what?
If I then download this IZArc, you think problem will be solved??????

I can only say that I used the same password (many, mnay times!) on the files before and after updating the archive program (IZArc). Didn't work before, did work after. So I am saying the software may be the cause (possibly in the utility that created the rar files).

On the other hand the password might just be wrong.
 
If u can find files hosted on Rapidshare.de then getting it free is easy...although theres a wait before you can download another file.

On Rapidshare.com i have never been able to download free, until last nite when i downloaded a file using their VSNL server. Not sure if it was the server or dumb luck...check it out.
 
Very good experience tonight on Rapidshare: Was looking around the site and found this news article: I think it explains why I've being having problems. Hopefully this can help anyone else who has similar issues:

25. Nov. 2006

Today we have made many internal changes in the session management of the downloads to make the system ready for future enhancements. The most visible change is that we have removed the traffic limit completely. You can finally download without any limits now. Please take notice that account-sharing, i.e. to share your premium account with other people, is not allowed.

In case you use a download manager, you should know that changes happened here as well. Those changes only apply for you if you used to insert direct links (http://rapidshare.com/files/837261/635273483/file.zip) in your download manager instead of the normal RapidShare URL (http://rapidshare.com/files/837261/file.zip). There are no download sessions for premium users anymore. To successfully use a download manager of your choice, please follow these steps:

1. Start your download manager
2. Add one or more conventional RapidShare URLs in the download queue.
3. Enter your premium login and password in the given form of your download manager BEFORE you start the download.
4. Start your download

It is important to enter your premium details in the download manager before you start the download. Only this way your program knows about your premium membership and only this way it will tell our server about it as well so we can recognize you.

Attention: Please only use well-known download managers like GetRight or FlashGet. We got notice about the fact that some questionable "download managers" send your login and password to other people!

I hope Orbit is honest!

If you can find what you want (which is half the battle) premium account rapidshare at +-400KB/s puts any other form of file sharing in the shade.
 
My problem with Rapidshare is that they cap your account to 5Gb a day if you download more than your allocated 20Gb in 3 days or less, but that's easily solved with 2 or 3 accounts (depending on how much one has to download).
 
i have a really strange and annoying issue the last 2 days

when i download something from rapidshare via flashget,somewhere in the 99% of completion the download stuck and/or continues with a speed of 0.01 kb/s

i have to start a new download or restart flashget to make it work well

this is something that happens only with rapidshare links

thats smth new in the last 2 days,the days and months before i didnt have such problems

my router is zyxel P-660H-D1 ,just in case

win xp sp2,flashget 1.8.2/1001&1002

i also formated my drive,nothing change

Rapidshare premium account is the best investment you can make.I get full speed and last month downloaded about 150gig just off rapidshare, I have never had a problem with them and 1 account is enough.
