Rappelz MMORPG

Hey guys,

hoping for some advice here....

I play a free MMORPG called Rappelz. I currently have a 4mb uncapped line from mweb. I am experiencing problems at certain times of the day i cannot connect to the log in server for the game i play, for up to 2 hours a time.

I quickly stick in my 3g modem and i can connetc and play fine. the moment i try on my adsl line it wont connect...

I have disabled all firewalls etc to see if this made a diff but nothing. i initially thought it was due to the laod shedding, but this happens even when there is no load shedding country wise.

I called MWEB to see if they are doing any shaping or blocking ports at certain times and they say they are not. How do i go about checking which ports i need to right rules for or to show MWEB which ports my game uses so they can do a more indepth check?

No,

Installed and played through a console. exactly like guild wars, wow etc.

Hmm ok. I play Warcommander which is hosted by Kixeye. It's a MMO strategy game. At times I also cant connect to our gaming servers, yet over weekends and after 5/6 pm I can connect with no issues. MWEB of course, deny that shaping is causing this. It is VERY frustrating. I had them investigate it and they "found nothing". Soon after I could connect and play anytime of the day/week. But , for the last two months the same problem has raised it's head again. I run a 10Mbps capped account.

yeah, the guy at MWEB told me the same thing....

he then also told me to enable to ports to the game in my router hence me trying to find out how to get them...

he said that this is the only thing that can help with this issue. otherwise it may be a problem on my exchange.... which doesnt make sense to me.

The answer that I got is that because my game is browser based, they cant do anything. I have two ways of logging on, either through a Facebook portal or directly on Kixeye's home page , neither will work, but then after "peak" hours, I can suddenly play whenever I want.

yeah i could understand a browser based game...

i have a funny feeling Rappelz uses the P2p or file sharing ports... hence them limiting them at certain times of the day etc. What is weird is that its from 5-7 some days then 6-8 others and even 8-10 on other days.

so its not even consistant. however every single time i cant connect on ADSL i test on 3g and can connect...

so once again last night i sat on the phone with the MWEB guys and they tell me there is nothing wrong with my line. they reset it at the port to try and resolve my conenction issues..... no luck.

They have asked me to mail their gaming sections now for hopefully more help. After my 30 min phone call last night, i put down the phone. grabbed my 3g modem, and played my game. NO connection issues.

I then tried a mates telkom account and to my surprise connected perfectly. Tried my mweb again and no luck.
I really dont want to have to change ISP's just to play a game. ANY other suggestions on what to try would REALLY be appreciated.
