Western Cape premier Ebrahim Rasool made a grudging apology yesterday for misleading the provincial legislature — but only after his own party pressed him into doing so.
Calling it “the most difficult day” in his 13 years in the legislature, the ANC premier said he was sorry for anything he had said that had resulted in “institutional tension”.
“I did not lie to this house,” Rasool insisted, acknowledging only that he “might have contributed to misunderstandings and mistrust”.

Hmmm... remember what his office said said just last week?
"We are taken aback by the story in the Cape Argus where the premier is reported to have misled the House,
...
"It confirms our initial suspicions that the entire process culminating in the ad hoc committee's investigation resulted from a political agenda."
