Hi all

Whats the going rate right now for a Raspberry Pi 512 edition including delivery? Found a brick/mortar shop that has them for 650 & the walk in is mighty tempting vs the online missioning.

Oh and does anybody know exactly what cable spec I'd need to connect it to a DVI display? Is it a full sized HDMI port?

I've got a large copper/alu heat sink lying around that I no longer need (Athlone days) - would it make sense to attach it to the Rpi (duct tape style)?

Thx

You can get one for about R540 from Mantech or order from Pifactory (who keeps stock) for R520 excl delivery

+1 for PiFactory.

But to answer your questions:
Prices as above.
Full HDMI port
Can't see why you would want to attach a heat sink. They don't become very warm.

I got from Automation Techniques for R441.23. they in Durban, they delivered free to their Joburg office in Bedfordview and I just collected it there. I also got a case, power supply and USB cable, total came to R770.71

I got a spare model b, with original case and power supply, SanDisk 8gb class 10. All still sealed. R750, pm if interested. I can format the card and load latest openelec, bump up the clock speed to make it a bit more nippy too. I'm in Jhb.

grrr everything is in JHB. PTA would save me the R100 fuel bill.

@reactor: I just need the board and a 4gb card but thanks.

best is to call and confirm delivery expected as that used to be the issue with RS
Good to know it arrived although delayed. I'll look for contact options and ask them, thanks.

Anyone know if it's a good idea to order from RS Online?
One of the reasons I'm so interested in brick & mortar. Took one look at that site & the feedback and decided nee f.

Someone explain the reasoning behind the case to me? I honestly don't get it. I'm just going to jam it in a cupboard so an empty margarine container with holes cut in it is overkill already.

You don't really need a case at all. I bought cases for both my Raspberries because I  them, but it isn't necessary. My first Raspberry Pi was naked for almost 6 months.

RS Online are brilliant...

The site is a bit of a mess, but they kept me updated every step of the way and such...
