Hi all,

I have a B+ running XBMC via Openelec. My problem is that under the output resolution settings I can only find 1080i and not 1080p.

I am using a 1.3a HDMI cable running into a Samsung receiver which then outputs to my Samsung 46" LED.
Using the same cable configuration I can get full 1080p from my XBox 360.
The Pi is powered by a cellphone charger rated at 5V =1A.

Any ideas as to what I can do to get to 1080p?

I also have a second issue in that the TV will randomly go blank for 1-2 seconds before restoring the signal from the Pi (again, does not happen with the XBox).

Appreciate any suggestions

Try plugging it in directly to the tv, not via the receiver.

If that works, you might hace to manually edit xorg.conf.

Also try rasbmc

Ok, plugging directly into the TV did give me full 1080p.

Now to research and try out changing the config files :) Will stick to OpenElec for now, if I free up another SD card later I'll try rasbmc
Thanks for the tip

This thread suggests you can create a config.txt for openelec: http://openelec.tv/forum/134-usage/37820-config-txt-file
In which case you can force the screen resolution with something like:
hdmi_group=1
hdmi_mode=16
Not sure if openelec has it, but on raspbian you can use:
tvservice -s
while attached directly to the TV to see what the display mode is. e.g.
state 0x12001a [HDMI CEA (16) RGB lim 16:9], 1920x1080 @ 60.00Hz, progressive
Which equates to the hdmi mode and group settings above. Which you then force by putting them into the config.txt

Hi morkhans,

I found the same thread and inserting the first 2 commented lines worked perfectly!
Didn't get a chance to reboot and see if it kept the settings but I'll do that tonight :)

So happy I got my Pi - so over carrying my external HDD back and forth from PC to TV all the time!
