On a side note, just watch out when you open the box. The box opens by sliding out the drawer and if you grab the wrong end the Nuc may fall out. I had a near drop which scared the crap out of me.

Got my parts now. I have a total of 6gb of ram and a 60gb Kingston msata. It was a mission to get the antennas connected to the wifi module because the connections are so tiny.

I have a full blown Ubuntu 64bit LTS install with the XBMC app. It takes about 5 to 6 seconds to boot into desktop. I played a 4gb Pacific Rim Mkv from an external and I didn't see any stutter. On normal content cpu sits at 20% and 30% according to XBMC hardware info. Ram sits at about 1gig or just below that.

The Nuc is pretty responsive so I'm pretty happy. I still need to tweak the OS to minimise the writes to the ssd and utilise the extra ram I bought instead.

Thanks will have a look at these. Built quality is good and it gets mildly warm but doesn't overheat. The device itself fits in my palm. Might even work in a car with some sort of power converter. Power draw is roughly 70w.

I've been buying mostly Rebeltech but sometimes Wootware or Takealot may have better pricing.

I can also earn and spend ebucks at Takealot and I generally qualify for free delivery.
