Raytracing

Wish I had time to enter competitions like that. Here at work I use 3dsmax and v-ray but if I could I would go back to Maya, much better. Both programs now come with mental ray which is great for raytracing although it takes a while to learn whereas v-ray is simpler to use. When I started working with 3d there was no raytracing at all (edit: well there were reflections but no refractions), we had to fake it.

it's quite difficult to find 3d work in sa - I wanna work at luma / the refinery!

I wrote a raytracer, as part of my 2nd year Comp Sci project.

Ah, fun times...

Yeah the refinery is cool, very cool actually. I may send them a demo reel just in case. Also triggerfish is getting some big jobs from overseas. I may take a look into that also, otherwise I know I am happiest when I am freelancing, it's pretty close to being your own boss but like you said it's not easy in this country.

What software do you use? There is an opening here for a 3D modeler, if you are interested PM me (although I see you are in JB, we are in CT).

Nice! I really like the liqui-fruit render with the oranges, that is one of your strongest works. The goblin is also cool and the D & G render is nice and clean.

Pity that you have no architectural type renders since that is what we do here mostly, 80 percent of it is making lobbies and rooms, then 20 percent making the slot machines and other games to go into those rooms. I have bookmarked your page, will take another look when I have more time.
