My new keyboard arrived yesterday from Take 2, and I must say...
It is the pinnacle of human achievement. Everything about this keyboard is awesome. It is as if it gives my fingers a blowjob with each keystroke. The keys have a soft, rubber finish and are alot like those of a laptop, making typing almost as effortless as breathing. The glowing keys, whilst considered a bit dim by certain mouth-breathers, is perfect for someone like me who's PC is always in a dark corner, allowing the keys to show up nicely. Even in the light, they are still visible, although I can understand how some people (read as: two-finger typists) would have issues with them as they can be difficult to read if looking at them from the wrong angle.
The driver software has a few bugs and kinks to iron out, but it is still at v1.0, so I can understand it. The software isn't even necessary unless you want to make use of the macro functionality (did I forget to mention that it allows you put a macro on ANY key on the keyboard, and to switch profiles on the fly?).
I like the way one can choose to light up the WASD cluster on its own for late night gaming, although it would be nice if the software allowed one to choose which keys to light up in that mode. Speaking of which, my gaming visibly improved, what with the 1ms response time and 1000Hz Ultrapolling, not to mention the anti-ghosting capabilities of the WASD and surrounding key cluster. The keyboard requires two USB ports (one is used for the USB2.0 port at the back of the actual keyboard to ensure full power without stealing any from the board), and also has Mic/Headphone jacks at the back which makes life a lot easier for those of us with shorter headphone cables. My only issue, however, was that the Lycosa's cable is not long enough, however this is just for my particular setup, and I doubt it will affect anyone else.
All in all, this is by far the best keyboard I have ever used and I am sitting here at work, wiping drool from my mouth with itching fingers, counting the minutes until I can get back to it.
If you have R700 to spend on a keyboard and are not enticed by the clunky-looking G15, look no further than the Razer Lycosa.
