RCT 2KWh 24V Hybrid Inverter (RCT-VM2k) with a 5.1kWh Lithium Battery LiFePO4 (not sure on make and model).

What sort of length outage will it cover (draw of 750 or so watts)? And what is the best solar solution for it?

Yes it sounds like a good deal but I'm a bit worried if they call the inverter a 2kWh

No link. One of my suppliers of security equipment sent out a mailer with this as a special purchase (obviously looking to cash in on the provisioning of redundancy.

I'm used to seeing 5kW battery costing R25k and that inverter around R5k so it sounds too cheap, but if you trust the source then it's a no brainer I would say.

Only real issue, is that the system is 24v, most stuff runs at 48v when you upgrade.

Good price though.


One thing to mention - you'll need a CoC / Engineering signoff, and I'm not sure that RCT inverters are compliant with SA regulations, so your muni may be unhappy.

Looks to be the Axpert VM 2000-24



I see it supports a max of 1000W PV array. So I guess that means a max of 3 x 300 odd or 2 of 400 odd solar panels?
