Hi,

I'm using VUMA Fibre with VOX as my ISP.

For some strange reason I'm unable to RDP into a work server, after being able to connect to my work VPN..

I've checked my router and there is no firewall enabled or anything... Not sure if the problem lies with VOX or with VUMA...

Anyone able to give any advice?

Does it work when you VPN via another connection e.g. LTE from the same PC?

Have you forwarded ports (3389) on your router?
I'm not sure why I'd have to, my VPN connection should cater for this surely? Or do I have to forward the port each time I want to connect because it's using a VPN?

Sorry - Forgot to add that I can connect using another connection using the same computer.. Seems specific to my fiber connection.

He is VPN-ing into his work server. I don't think he has to forward any ports in this scenario.
If he is able to vpn in and then cant rdp to a server while connected via VPN, the ISP has nothing to do with his issue?

Missed the part where you vpn in first, ignore my previous reply.

Seems like it, but then he says that he can connect when using another ISP.

Are you using the IP address or FQDN to RDP to the server over the VPN connection?

Thought about DNS as well but he said that it works on a different connection.

Yeah but would like to know either way. Can't be a Vuma or ISP problem, they are not going to block a connection inside the tunnel (or any connection for that matter), seems more like his PC does not know how to get to the server...

The ip ranges on your home lan are the same as your office ones?

If memory serves me well, they're indeed.. I must check this when I get home.. Thanks!

edit: now that I think about it more... It's most likely this issue.. It's trying to RDP a computer with the same IP on my home network instead of VPN connection.. also makes sense why it's replying to PINGS and the NMAP returns no open ports via the fiber connection (home network)

If you do a "route print" in command prompt while connected to the VPN (asuming you are using a windows pc) does it show that route?
