Re booting of pvr

:mad:every time we get load shedding my pvr has to reboot itself. Is there some sort of battery which needs to be replaced to prevent this? Mine is one of the old "record 2 and watch 1". Anyone know if there is such a feature?
 
So your PVR has to reboot after it has no power for 4 hours? Should definitely get a new decoder, yours is borked...

The explora can actually stay on during load shedding, Eskom let DSTV know and they send a signal via the internet through the ethernet port.

Have you installed the latest firmware? It allows you to store power on the hard drive so it can stay running during loadshedding. You have to request that feature from the DStv customer services dept.
 
Haha very funny guys :) he's not describing it properly I know what he means. Having recently replaced my 4p as it was faulty.
After a reboot the pvr tells you your pvr has been rebooted you need to reboot it to rescan. This takes 10 minutes or so while the explora is done in about 3 min
 
<Tinfoil> I've also been seeing it in recent times. I'm guessing it's a new feature they added to force people to upgrade to Exploras </Tinfoil>
 
If You read the messege correctly it say press enter to reboot or escape to continue.
Had this same issue myself
 
It's just their way of irritating the crap out of you so you'd replace it faster to get around the double reboot. They used to scan automagically on a restart before all this replacement crap, so why has this suddenly changed ?
I assume the last 3 software updates where channels go missing for weeks is for the same reason - to make you think you NEED the explora....
 
Yeah I remember that, also reboot seemed to take three times as long. The explora does not faster and is actually far better than the 4p ever was.

When it asks to reboot, just exit. All the channels should still be there.

Yup, exactly what I have been doing, but on occasion the thing will just decide it needs to reboot every 15 minutes or so.
I just leave it then and walk away.
It will go for weeks no issue then a flurry of BS.

Multichoice has not been known for their excellent products.
