Re-Partition failure

Hello All,

Hoping some old Mac-hands can give me some advice...

When I first set everything up upon purchasing my Mac, I created a separate 10GB partition. Cannot remember my reasons anymore. But used it mainly to play around with Hazel rules etc., and some other experiments.

Today, in an effort to clean things up again - I deleted everything off it, and the erased it through Disk Utility.

After a reboot - I opened Disk Utility again, selected the partition tab, and then drag-selected the primary partition, to take up the recently cleared space.

After it runs the "Checking Extents Overflow file" - I get the following error:

TOSHIBA MK5065GSXF Media at 4.16.07 PM.png

Suffice it to say - I haven't been able to resize my sole-remaining partition. Any suggestions?

Oh joy.

Time-machined only a few hours back. Thank goodness. Holding thumbs this works as well as it did last time...

Why? Because I decided to try the Verify Disk, after the message above - and got this in response...

Hoping it's not as serious as what it might appear - and simply a few things out of whack following the removal of that partition...

Million Dollar question: Given that the T-M backup was done prior to my deleting that partition - what will happen with the restore? Will it look for a partition that's not there?

So, at the risk of having a conversation with myself ( :) ) - did some googling - and most suggesting rebooting into Recovery mode, and doing a clean-install. One or two suggested a T-M restore will be ok.

I really hope so!

Trying a Disk Repair in Recovery Mode now. Fingers crossed. Mental note to self: Do not create a partition, unless you're happy to keep said partition.

Much ado about nothing, thankfully. If I knew how to - I would strikethrough the last sentence above... :)

Disk Repair in Recovery Mode did the trick. Fixed the errors, which I'm pretty certain was as a result of the removed partition - AND allowed me to drag/resize the primary partition, to take up the full 499/500GB space available. Restarted, and all is working as before.

Came across a Lost+Found folder in my Library - which Googling confirms to be the installer, left over after the process. I've taken it over to my external, and will reboot now to make sure all works, before deleting it as well.

So a few hairy moments, but all's well that ends well.
