De-registering with SANRAL/E-tag?

So I was sort of pressured into getting an E-tag a few years ago after getting my car license, but I stopped paying because....well, because.

I, however, recently paid what I "owed" them in order to avoid debt collection, but does anyone know if it's possible to exit the contract/de-register my vehicle with SANRAL, so I can then join OUTA?

unfortunately for people who have registered with them you are stuck, as you have accepted their terms and conditions of the reason why you are paying. So I don't know if they will allow you to "unregister" a vehicle and so you will need to carry on paying the toll fees

Good luck though

It is supposed to possible, if outstanding fees are settled in full. But, easier said than done.

About two years ago, and to accomplish the same as you are trying to.
I tried de-registering on the web portal, phoned the call center, went in to two different walk-in centers, and guess what- Car was still not de-registered on their system.

It only got de-registered once I traded-in for a new vehicle.
Anyway, my point is, contact a dealership and ask them what magic they perform to get the de-registration process actioned done.

Good luck!
