Has anyone here re-roofed thatch? What would you suggest, do I leave the thatch and clad over it or is it best to remove the thatch?

Also, what does one re-roof with? Harvey tiles, Fiddler, Onduvilla or something else?

I'd also be interested in people experiences.
Recently had a veldt fire next door and it scared the sh*t out of me, worrying my house would burn down.

Someone I spoke to said Harvey Tiles were horrible, but I can't remember the reason.

They're dog ugly.

Remove the tatch and reroof with ceiling with wooden batons and roof tiles. Piece of mind and crucial for the valuation of your property especially when trying to get finance from the bank. A proper roof is critical to get a good bond approval .

I'm told the gumpoles can't carry the weight of tiles, so you'll need to replace the entire structure.

If was going to reroof my house I would use galvanished steel sheets instead. They look really nice when painted and are super light on the roof structure. Just make sure to get the ones that have folded crimping to join them together to eliminate any leaks.

Until it rains/hails, it's like sitting inside a big drum.

Oh snap .. sorry. Best to go with galvanised sheeting and rhino underneath for insulation/sound prooofing .
