Good Day Guys, Im trying to reach out to Telkom to upgrade my area's exchange or put up a new one. Im trying all the media platforms and would like some help from whoever can provide. Next step for me is going door to door in the mooikloof area to raise a petition.
My story is as follows:
Where to start. I stay in the Mooikloof Ridge Estate in Pretoria East (012 480 ext).
When my line was installed nothing was said about the quality of DSL in my area and I actually had perfect speeds on my 4 mbps line the Saturday and Sunday, until the Monday when everything when to hell. My line dropped to on avg 70 kbps and continued like that even though I logged a fault on the Tuesday the 1th July 2014. On the 3 - 4th July cable were stolen in our area and we were offline for a week. When it come back online on the 9th July 2014 the problem was still there, because the cable theft caused a lot of confusion I raised a new ticket and I'm still waiting for a resolution. furthermore they have me now down to a 2 mbps line because they cant offer me the 4 mbps.
The past Saturday the 26 of July 2014 they finally sent out a technician to attend to the call, however the gent didnt even get out of the car. All he just said was the following:
1. Its a congested exchange and there is nothing he can do.
2. No technician wants to come out to the area anymore. (probably why I have been waiting so long)
3. A project has been opened, however he is not convinced that it will ever start.
4. If they don't upgrade or put up a new exchange he will also not be coming out to the area to attend to calls.
Another thing that was very concerning to me was he showed me a graph of where the exchange is being over utilized at a 135% but just before he left he said the only reason he come to talk to me was that he has to put in a ADSL line a few houses down....really another ADSL user on a already congested exchange? Same with me, why offer me the services of a ADSL connection if you know that it is not a even a best effort service?
Kind Regards
