Telkom's ad on ITWeb:

'Telkom remains one of the strongest leading brands in SA. In the latest Markinor/Sunday Times Top Brands survey, it was rated tops in the telecommunications providers category, second among companies that have done the most community upliftment work, and retained its position as the second most admired brand after Coca-Cola.'

Did they interview cows whilst grazing happily on a pasture somewhere? Maybe they interviewed dark shapes in a cave, and when they heard their voices comning back to them, they recorded a unanimous 'yes'. Telkom, you didn't ask me. Why don't you call: 021 701 2546. I just paid more than my month's rent to you for the last bill, so please expect me to profess a 'very happy new year / season's greetings' to one and all at Telkom.

Easy to have massive community spends supporting sports and subtly eradicate any resistance through happy people smiling at you in ads plastered all over our wonderful Cape, fly impoverished people to Disneyland - no factual backing, I admit - (then ask them to fill in a 'service quality questionnaire!) off the ripoff's we face daily. If only I had a monopoly on Internet Production, I'd do the same with my revenue income, but then I understand the concept of guilt, so maybe not.

I know something along this line has already been mentioned, but when a communications company charges a trained professional 20% - 30% of their monthly earnings, one can see just how inflated this is in comparison to many countries in the world.

'Weak rand' - weak excuse. 'Upgrading infrastructure to be in line with 1st world' - we're ALREADY THERE - my ADSL WORKS. 'We're in Africa' - should not adversely affect us as much as it presently does. 'We're in the midst of a monopoly stomping us into the ground' - LET'S HEAR IT FROM A REAL UNBIASED FORUM!

I'm not stupid Telkom, so please don't insult me or my fellow readers / users of your service with pathetic reassurances that you are actually revered by nearly one and all (surely has to be the case to reach the no. 2 spot?), as it simply CAN'T BE TRUE in my eyes.

Every dog has it's day and I trust this dog if off to the pound soon. Never to be adopted. Early demise.

... And this statement from an animal lover.

Brand strength is based on market reach - no? Mabey Telkom is a "leading brand" because they are a monopoly.

Oh please what absolute drivel is this! One of the reasons the monopoly protection period was put in place was in order for Telkom to roll out services to these communities - and we all know they failed dismally!

Admired by who? Oh yes the people who are lining their pockets with Telkom profits - that's who! At least Coke adds life [:D]

We have to give them that one, this community wouldn't have been formed if not for their, lack of, service. [}:)]
