So, I just picked up a prepaid mtn win.
In store I asked them to do a number port from my telkom mobile number.
This is where things get really really fishy.
So I didn't have any proof of residence on me, but they apparently Rica'd the sim. Next, I have received no notification of a port on my current sim.
So now I figure, I doubt that my number will be ported, or rica'd. Should I contact mtn about the branch in question?
The only information they got from me is my ID number, name and phone number(which they would definitely need for a number port). My thinking is that you can do a lot of things with that information, so I'll definitely keep an eye on my mails and alerts.
What sort of social engineering can they pull with my current info? Or they can try take my number for another sim and go from there.
I might be being a bit too paranoid.
