Telkom will roll out the first phase of its SmartBroadband Uncapped high-speed wireless packages to select "areas" in Gauteng.

Looking at the map, it's more like selected neighborhoods or may I say FutureHood.



Lets zoom in one interesting Hood! Noordheuwel, 60% of the coverage falls in the woods. I mean really TELKOM!!!


Yes this is a rant made by someone who is angry that his Hood was not selected. To all those that signed up, please post your experiences and speedtest.

Zoom in a bit more and see where the tower is located. Probably at an existing site...

I live in Johannesburg. TELKOM MOBILE does have LTE coverage in my neighbourhood .

They basically selling a service whereby traffic is nonexistent on those towers . Example I have LTE, and have been informed by a tech that the site is congested will have to wait.?

I am not saying that they create new site and I am not saying they shouldn't have chosen that specific site.

Just go to their website and see the LTE coverage map, they could have atleast increased the range and not limit it to a street block.

Range is limited by the technology (LTE-A).

And it's a bit more than a street block...

Problem solved. You need a Wendy house with solar panels attached. Do it old school with leafs
