I have a new policy when someone in front of me has their rear fog lights on in perfect driving conditions. I will put my brights on until i am past you.

I noticed that the fog lights on newer cars have become a lot more bright and focused. Was driving past an M3 last night and the rear fogs were blinding.

I do not understand their logic. Do they have to switch on every button in their car? Or can you forget to switch the fogs off after the last trip? I know on all my cars that had rear fogs, when the car is switched off, the fogs do not go on when the car is restarted so I have to intentionally switch the fogs on everytime.

What I find funny, is when people put those lights on, and the one bulb is blown.
Recently I saw a car with a blown right headlamp and a blown left foglamp. Looks rather comical :D

The front fog lights on I can live with.

Unless the idiots have gone out of their way to keep their headlights off and their fog lights on.

My favourite are the idiots in new cars with daytime running lights who use those in perfect dark on early winter mornings....not realising their rear lights don't go on with them in most cars.

It's DAYTIME running lights you idiots and you are invisible from behind. Not to mention you can hardly see in front of you either.

I'm on the same policy, if your rear fog light is shining in my eyes I'm switching my brights on and leaving them on so that we can both suffer.

The only time my rear fog lights come on when they're not necessary is when some idiot comes up behind me with his brights on.

I'm just glad said idiots are driving cars falling under compulsory running lights rules. One of the best recent changes imo. Thanks EU.

Yeah I don't mind daytime running lights being on by default.

But then either put the rear lights on by default as well or force the automatic headlights to override manual settings.

My car has daylight running lights, automatic lights and wipers. If the wipers are on for longer than a minute, the lights are automatically activated irrespective of light conditions outside. In overcast conditions when automatic activation of lights do not happen and the wipers are not active, i manually switch on my headlights.

I leave my BMW's headlights on the whole time, and as long as I don't bug with them, they turn off by themselves when I open the door. I have found (especially on long straight roads) that you can see cars from so much further away during the day if they have their headlights on.

And then you get the mk1 golf drivers with their xenon headlights on the entire day as if they're not bad enough to drive against at night.

Problem with this is when your headlights are on during the day (not taliking about DRL's) then you rear lights also go on, it makes it more difficult to see when someone is braking when their rear lights are on during the day.

DRL's shouldnt activate the rear lights by default see my post above

I can't agree there.

Most cars in full daylight you don't see the rear lights being on and it's pretty easy to spot the brake lights.

A bigger problem to me is certain cars especially of the Korean smaller variety have such hectic reflectors that when the sun shines on them it looks like they are braking.

A lot of people turn on their fogs because "they look cool". Two people I know have said this to me.

Fog lights on in near perfect conditions really piss me off though. I have the same irritation with people driving with their parking lights on - however some cars these days have them set as DRLs.

When someone in front of me has rear fogs on, I turn mine on.

It's honestly a lost battle. It may not be entirely legal to have them on without fog, but almost everyone does it.

Edit: The worst are these old cars driving around with their DIY Xenon kits that don't have them set properly. URGH.

.

Even worse is people who put only their park lights on in dusk or the early evening.

I don't know if they do it with purpose or are too retarded to turn it all the way on.
