Realise this may provoke some discussion but have just had a quote to expand my existing 9 canadian solar 330W panels to 15 by adding 6 x 330W Regenesys panels and the total for the quote is R41k - i.e with labour and brackets and wire it works out to more than R7000/panel.

It's a while since I put the original panels on the roof but is this a reasonable quote?

At 4k a panel, that would put labour at 17k. Which is ridiculous given that labour for a full system install is about that price...

Panels were quoted at R2100 ex vat each, Mounting brackets at R1050 per panel, cable at R2k for Red and R4k for black..... Then a combiner at R8800.

Mounting brackets are a daylight robbery.
How big is the combiner box? I does look like a scam.

yeah that quote is OTT... i was quoted 13k for 10 panels and 1 battery installation

How long ago and can I get this person's details?
Beginning of the month - powerforum.co.za - here in PTA

That's just the installation quote hey. But they also supply the kit (panels)

That quote is insane.

I was quoted R15k for installation not too long ago. The guy actually provides everything apart from the panels, inverter, cabling and storage. So he provides the sundries and brackets and I only had to provide the main components. It helps that it was a colleague's son though :p
