Reboot PC = ADSL down ?

This has happened 3 times now ... and I really don't know why :

When I reboot my PC, my ADSL router loses connectivity - and I need to reboot it to get connectivity again. Why are the two linked?

What router, how is it connected to the PC, any other information which will assist in helping you.

The free Netgear that Telkom give you DGN2200 I think?

PC is simply connected via ethernet to one the 4 ports at the back

Perhaps it is using an on-demand dialing scheme, which means that it disconnects as soon as there are no connectivity on its LAN connection.

I've got a microcom that behaves the same way. You drop the link to the router or pull the cable the adsl drops.
