Reccomended web hosting and domain registration

I have been using paradigm solutions for last couple of month, pretty good at support but servers are in US i think. Did I mention the price :)

oh one thing to mention though.. not too sure abt WA , recently couple of my colleagues have left them after being pissed at there support and ftp/db speeds.
They think WA are seriously over utilizing there servers.
look at lypha.com as well there price is very good also hostgator.com.
hostgator.com has excellent speeds and support.
I use them for unix hosting n paradigmsolutions.co.za for windows.
In my opinion hostgator.com is the best in support.. they excellent.
very impressed with them.

Only problem I have with paradigm solutions is their unlimited but limited approach. They charge a small amount for unlimited hosting with unlimited space and unlimited bandwidth (transfer). Then just have a look through their Usage policy.

Policy on Hosting packages
We do not allow any media files of any extension at all on our servers and do not support forum/blog dedicated websites. Although Flash intros and websites done in flash are allowed. You cannot offer free disk space, bandwidth or free email on your website or in any other way distributed as part of any other service to users as these are business servers and we allow you to use our resources and to not abuse it. Database sizes are 100MB max. You can only host one business website on one hosting account. No bulk download/upload websites can be hosted on these packages. There is also a limit of 100MB of image files that a normal hosting package can have. Individual file size cannot be more then 1MB unless it's software that is developed by your company (i.e. you own the source code of the software) and you are selling it on your site. But remember even for this you must first confirm with [email protected]. For special requirements please contact us. Please remember there are no exceptions.

Now their packages say unlimited but their Usage policy says limited! I can understand the policy and that if they didn't have that they wouldn't survive, but that should be clearly stated on the package details page.

Very few people actually read the usage policy pages and TOS pages which is wrong, but they take advantage of this in a very bad way. They should at least have a link where a user can clearly find out what their definition of unlimited is. I think practice such as this is very unethical! First of all I think it's completely wrong to limit people to what they can do on the hosting account if you advertise an unlimited account. Second, there is no such thing as unlimited, unmetered yes, but not unlimited ;)
