Yes there are a many ways.
You can go via vodacom's email2sms route. Then set up a rule on your inbox to forward your emails to the vodacom email2sms number; EG: [email protected]

Or you can write a program that sends the emails via the 3G modem. I did this for my company, well something similar (we send received sms to email addresses). But the concept is the same.
