Hey all,

Recently I was in a big car accident and got a big concussion. I also hurt my neck, C2 vertibrae which broke. I was in ICU for about 8 to 9 days and had trouble with my balance and walking initially bit that has recovered although I am not 100% confident walking.

So it has now been 4 weeks since the accident on the 9th of March. I am in a neck brace and can move around and doing Physio Therapy. I also went for occupational therapy and i told the lady what I am currently doing. Playing board games like Scrabble and Monopoly, building puzzles, using the app Elevate, reading writing and as much as I can to keep my brain active.

However I still have short term memory loss, struggle reading fast and properly and take long to do math basic problems. Just want to know if this is normal.

Has anyone had issues like this? My tongue and lower lip as well as areas in my mouth and behind my head still feels dead like there is no sensation.

Thanks guys.hope you are keeping up with the lockdown.

Did hospital do a CT scan to check for bruising on the brain?

Glad you are recovering. Please refer your questions to your/the doctors that treated you.

I can recommend a very good personal injury attorney, Henry Shields. He got a very good settlement from Santam for a guy who slipped on a wet corridor.

The claim was initially rejected, but he got a substantial sum

CT scan was done. small bruiseon frontal lobe that they said is 1mm long and so small it will do nothing according to the neurologist. Will ask these questions to doctor. But has anyone experienced this?

I can't really help with your situation except to say that I had the same issues that I've quoted after recovering from viral meningitis. It took me about 2 months after the infection cleared to get back to normal.

Speedy recovery! And it's never a bad idea to get a second medical opinion... when I had the meningitis, I was sent from the first emergency room with myprodol for a "sinus headache".

I hope your recovery goes well. From a couple of friends of mine who have had traumatic brain injuries, recovery can take a long time, even years, and it may be gradual. 4 weeks is nothing; hang in there.

Thank you so much for all the responses everyone. Will see neurologist once lock-down ends.
