I was just about to post a thread and ask if anyone has been having issues with their ADSL?
My speeds are amazing. It's as if I am truly experiencing for the first time and I've been on 4mbps for almost a year now.
Can't say I've had problems this week.

Been having nonstop trouble for last 10 days now. It alternates between no and extremely slow connectivity.
Which line connection do you have?
First things first.
Get firefox: www.getfirefox.com
Get Firetune: http://www.totalidea.com/product.php?Product=FireTune
Install both, set it as you prefer.
Use the following proxy: cache.saix.net port:8080
That is if you are on the SAIX network (Telkom).
Your opinion does matter. Don't sell yourself short.
If you don't say what you are experiencing, then others might not be able to lend advice.

Will this do anything other than improve my browsing speed? Could it make it slower in any way?
I downloaded Firetune as you suggested. Seems to be a bit quicker - or maybe im imagining things

Pleasure. I definitely found an increase in speed when configuring Firetune today.
Concerning the proxy. Generally speaking sometimes I have experienced slower speed with it enabled, but then I just disable it.
Most days though (daytime) I have it enabled and it sorts out many issues for me, even issues such as downloading a file from megagames, which doesn't download without it.

a little info on what it does please Oom? (Firetune that is) ..... I don't feel like clicking and reading too much

Hmm i think i'll pass on that and use it only when/if im experiencing problems. Cos at the moment my net is working perfectly.. Even Rapidshare works a charm now! Downloads every time (TI SAIX 4Mbit)

On what sites in particular do you notice a faster load time?
Over here.
Google, download.com, mmm... if I use stumbleupon it's faster with it than without it.
That's from the top of my head. I'm not a digg.com etc. type of guy and I don't do facebook either.

Of course youtube as well, major improvement with it (fixes the video no longer available for me as well)
Unfortunately the fixes suggested does not do anything for me, since it appears that telkom has a software problem in the Durban area. Im just a little frustrated that for the past 10 days that my internet speeds has been hell due to 1 telkom fault after another (first it was local exchange, then SAIX outage, then something unreported, and now the software problems).

so find out exactly what software problem it is ..... just keep bugging them for an answer.
