Hi Guys,

I currently have an iPhone which I am using on the MTN network. EDGE is working great (most of the time it is quick enough) but I have recently - as in the past 2 weeks - been having a problem SENDING emails!

smtp.saix.net:

Wifi over ADSL - This works 100% of the time while I am in my home & office over my wifi network!

EDGE - It USED to work 100% of the time, while away from a wifi network. I could send mail without any problems!

BUT, recently I have been having major problems sending email through smtp.saix.net while on the EDGE network.

I want to be able to use only 1 SMTP server to send email which will accept emails from BOTH the EDGE network, as well as my normal SAIX ADSL account (via wifi)

Anyone else having any problems???

Suggestions?

I setup these phones all the time.

When you using your phone only you cannot use SAIX. Their relaying is denied from forein networks. Like if you on vodacom you cant use the MTN smtp server and vice versa.

When standalone use either smtp.mtn.co.za or mail.mtn.co.za

Edit: using a server for one and all like you say i advise using the mail.mtn.co.za

I hear you, but I (think that I) have been using SMTP.SAIX.NET perfectly for the past couple of weeks! The problems only started happening (relay denied) about 2 weeks ago!

I can't really be expected to change my smtp settings each time I get into the office (saix) or leave the office (mtn) ... can I ???

I suppose that I will need to have to find a SMTP server that requires authentication so that they don't limit the relaying from different networks?

Will that really work?

Hence, I advise using mail.mtn.co.za that works over port 80. This should/could solve your SAIX/Mtn issue.
