Rechargeable battery LED Lamp

I have a few of the Ultratec Nightingale LED Lanterns.

30hr runtime on a charge.
Rechargeable with built in charger.
Replaceable battery.
Reflective light diffuser, light goes 360° as aposed to a focused spot.
Auto-on during power failure.

I see they on special at Cape Union Mart for R399.

I'm very happy with the brightness and dispersion of light they provide and they have never run flat.

The fluorescent tube ones use too much power for long outtages, we have something similar and they last 4 hours on single tube mode and 2 on double tube. Switch them on manually (single tube mode, they are in the lesser used rooms) when there is loadshedding at night so they don't waste battery power with daytime loadshedding, they cannot handle stage 3. In the second load shedding period they die, haven't recharged enough in the break.

LED is way better on battery life.

I use the below (they go on automatically when the power fails), they can easily last 50 hours on lantern mode(someone tested them to 40 hours and then stopped the test, was still at full brightness), 100hours on torch mode, between charges. Also has USB output port for device charging:

This one is BRILLIANT.. i will however say...
my son of 12mths has thrown it across the room (i left it on the play table once).. and it did withstand the shock, though it did crack :-(

But it still works... I bought 2 of them from takealot on a special... they are absolutely brilliant. I shine them against the wall and it lights up the whole room.
If i wasn't putting in backup power for the main rooms, i would buy more of these...

If you can get stock @ capeunionmart online, you can sign up for their newsletter and get a R50 voucher - i saw this last week. I think they are however more expensive than outdoor warehouse.
