Seven taxi drivers were arrested in Johannesburg for driving on the wrong side of the road on Monday, said metro police.

About time the enforcers lay down the law, undercover too, i like that, how about extending this operation throughout all provinces? :)

if only the arrest will turn into- your drivers lisences are taken away and if you don't have them 15K fine and night in jail.

It's about damn time.
Every morning I sit in traffic while Taxi drivers who feel they're above the law do whatever they please. It's annoying as hell.

We can expect a Taxi strike.

Good, it will make my drive to work quicker and safer...

Although you're correct in saying that, they effectively have our country by the balls and they know it.

If you remove the taxi's you remove the workforce behind our economy. Miners and production laboureres.

The sad truth is we need taxi's just as much as we hate them. (Kinda like veggies)

If you want to see our country come to a grinding halt, stop the taxi's. You wouldn't even be able to escape the country as there'd be nobody to check your luggage or load it on the plane.

I agree with you that an intricate bus system needs to be implemented and it's nice to see that the East London Municipality is doing just that.

Unfortunately due to our country having very spread out communities, busses alone won't do the trick. Railways aren't safe enough to impose trams/undergrounds either.

But yes, Kim is right - this should happen more often.
