So the time has come to replace my trusty Logitech Elite Multimedia keyboard. It has served me well for about 9 years and even though it still works, some of most-used keys are becoming sticky and difficult to press.

I'm basically looking for something that is sleek and functional. I'm a casual gamer so something that will work for gaming is required but I have no need for those flashy over the top gaming keyboards.

If possible I'd like to go the Logitech route again and the two that stand out for me are the K740 and the K800. I'd like to go wireless but I've heard that the K800 tends to lag every now and again so maybe wired is a better choice here. Unfortunately I've read on some forums that Logitech either accidentally or purposefully disabled the use of W + Shift + Space for some revisions of the K740 which creates a problem for the gaming side.

Can anyone here perhaps verify that the K740 does indeed have this issue?

Any other recommendations as far as keyboards go would be great.

Have you tried cleaning it?

Wireless is not recommended for gaming.

Other than the occasional wipe off with a wet cloth or blowing it out with compressed air, no.
I've never gone to extremes like removing the keys etc.

Literally soak? Tips please.

I suggest you go to extremes, take all the keys off, wash them in warm water and handy andy. Depending on the type of keyboard, if yours has those rubber domes take them out and clean them also, vacuum between where the keys are on the keyboard. When you put everything back make double sure it's dry. You can also use ear buds to help you clean between the groves.

9 years of not cleaning a keyboard is extreme, I'm surprised things are not growing in your keyboard :D
