I have about 500 historical Newsletters, consisting of about 16 pages each, B&W, double sided.

I have over the years been using a Canon Flatbed scanner.... painfully scanning a page at a time, flipping it over and scanning the next....

Over the past ten years I scanned about 200 of these Newsletters and then lost interest in digitizing the rest of them.

We has a flood in my office from a burst pipe this past weekend, lost a few power adaptors, carpets and almost my Newsletters....

So now I want to carry on scanning but need to purchase a multi page scanner for the job, a decade old scanner just ain't cutting it...

Resolution needs to be 600dpi.

I thank you.... :D

Come to joburg, we can drop it in one of our MFDs here.

A double sided scanner aint gonna come cheap.

Doubt buying something for a one time job will be worth the money, they are quite expensive if you want something decent.

Yeah, you need a proper MFD and those cost money. It's better to find someone who already owns one to do it for you.

My first thought was to take it to a "Postnet" type place and pay them to scan it, but not sure whether you have access to a place like this. (or an internet cafe?)

Any corporate offices around that would let you use theirs if you reimburse the paper and ink?

I assume the pages aren't bound or stapled - if so, it should go quick with a larger multi-function printer/scanner - also assuming you don't need them scanned one-by-one and could scan them together in bunches (like all for a particular month or year etc).

There's no ink or paper usage
