Hi Guys

I have finally after many months of fighting managed to have an ADSL line installed. Currently I have a Netgear MBRN3000 wireless router with 3G function. Can someone recommend an ADSL router that would either integrate with my current Netgear, or perhaps let me keep my current Netgear as a repeater of sorts?

Requirements for me are primarily wireless range (up to 50m line of sight with no obstructions)
Up to 4 wired connections
Up to 8 wireless connections

I don't know the Netgear router (just know their firmware has a less than enviable rep) but you should be able to hook it up to a generic ADSL router.

If you have some router config knowledge I would heartily recommend a cheap ADSL modem hooked up to a MikroTik 951 or similar (they have some with gigabit switching built in also). By adding queues you can then have some measure of fairness in the division of internet amongst users on the network as 12 users is quite a bit and even account for usage. Though it requires some tinkering (mikrotik routers aren't easy to set up much beyond the default setup) you can also prioritize web browsing over P2P or similar.

Sorry, should have made it clear most of these devices would not be connected all at the same time. Most devices are tablets and cell phones. Probably the only "high traffic" devices would be 1 wired and 1 wireless.

I have not had any issues with Netgear equipment so I would recommend them. Mikrotik as has been pointed out are good but tricky to configure as the documentation is not the best in the world and support seems to be a user forum.
Connecting 2 routers together especially with wifi on both you need to be careful. I put this post up a few weeks ago.

Good luck

Regards

Tim

Had a look at the Billion BiPAC 5210S RC. Seems like it will do what I want. Going to use the ethernet port to connect to my WiFi router and I should be good to go. Any comments?

The amount of wireless clients that can connect to any wireless router is 255 so there is no worry for that...i recommend the NETGEAR DGN2200M-100PES or similar.
