Me and my husband both do not have any debts (credit card/store card) etc, except for our house loan - which is quite big.

We are looking more on for the future / emergency.

Looking for someone to advise us on how to handle retirement funds / retirement annuity / investments / is our life coverage enough / do we need disability / income protection, etc.

I would prefer a financial advisor which gives me a win-win situation , i earn money = he earns money. Not those that try to sell me a product that I never see him again.

Or any help / links from fellow forummers how I should start planning for the future?

I can refer you to a guy but he is in Durban, I know that he does travel on occasion to see clients in other provinces.

Will I have to pay for his travels to Cape Town for consultations?
Have you personally used this guy?

Find someone you're comfortable with.

If you prefer an Afrikaans guy with a great Rep that I got to handle my fianceé's money (I handle my own since I work in the field as well), PM me, I'll send you his info.
You don't need to put loads of money with him, and he's cheap and honest.

independent fee based financial advisor

Hi, i have used the service of Gregg Sneddon, he is an independent, fee based financial advisor.( which translates to not simply product flogging). you can check out his site www.thefinancialcoach.co.za. some interesting articles on it as well as his contact details.

Not that I'm aware of, he has visited friends of mine in JHB and he did not charge them as he has a client base there that he looks after.
Yes, I've made use of his services.

You could always just call him and ask, he's not the pushy sales type guy.
