Hi Guys, any recommendations here? I am gatvol of EPSON, thinking maybe something in the Brother range. This is for home office use, so something where the cartridges wont break the bank (HP/Lexmark).

If you know of a good printer that can take generic cartridges, even better.

Thanks

Why gatvol of Epson?
Try the Epson ink tank range. I've been using the Epson L565 for around 7 months in my home office. Multi function, wifi, Ethernet and USB connections, finding the wifi most useful, haven't even connected it to the LAN yet because wifi works so well.
It's initial cost is higher than others, but from there you'll pay around R120 for a bottle of ink.
I've gone through 3 or so packs of paper and the black ink level is half, the colours is just under 3 quarter so the box of paper will be finished before the set of ink.
Back when I did my research I calculated mono printing cost at 0.04c per page and colour at 0.10c per page, where inkjet and laser printers give you over 0.50c mono and over R1 per page colour.

Year and a half on Epson ink tank printer in the office. Went through 2 black inks and just replaced the colour inks about 2 weeks ago. Probably about 3/4 boxes of paper during that time.

Ok, thanks guys. Will look into it. Any specials on this somewhere?

** Edit : Looks like it's off the market. (the L355)

I have the Brother J200. The last set of cartridges got around 2000+ pages of printing. A new set of ink costed R800 not too long ago. In my research few years ago it was the cheapest cost per page, not including the ink tank, back then those printers were around the 4000 range and we paid R1800 for the Brother IIRC

I can also recommend the Epson ink tank range. So many good reviews. I bought mine (Epson L386) last month for R3500. You get all the color ink, plus three black (2 extra) inks. Will last a long time. Just remember the wifi option, then you don't have to have it connected to a PC.
