Recommendations 4 Gaming PC

Cheapest full system i could put together is R7251-00 incl vat and screen, case etc etc (graphics suck though) would need min 12k for a semi decent system (Core2 sucks for the budget minded)

Does not include OS :p

What games do you plan on playing ?

I've switched to console recently for the first time ever. I believe it will save me tons of money on pc upgrades. No more PC upgrades for a while. I can surf quite nicely for some time to come. :) SLI doesn't make much difference to a web page.

Thats just cpu, ram, hard drive, gfx card
thanks

Some RPG's 24 and the like and Carbon Canyon NFS. Just don't want to go the console route - cos I grew up playing PC - back in the day with my 286!:D those were the days man...LOL

Here is the system I am planning on getting:
* Case - Something Black, maybe Gigabyte™ 3D Aurora570 Chassis
* Motherboard - Still looking, maybe Gigabyte® S Series iP965 - but no Fire Wire :(
* CPU - Intel CPU Core 2 Duo E6400 Processor
* Graphics - Gigabyte® ATI® Radeon X1600 XT (But looking at the GeForce 8800 - whaiting for a price)
* Hard Drive - Seagate Barracuda SATA II 250GB

Still waiting for various quotes.

E6300
7600GT
1GB Ram
250 GB Sata

Sounds like that's your machine. Yes it's not a "Dream Machine", but it's upgradeable, fast and great value. To go cheaper, either get a (Bad) intel cpu that's upgradeable to core 2, or an amd cpu.

I don't think it get's much better than that. Don't forget though, it doesn't include a monitor!

Stukkend - so if I might trouble you guys again..? where would be the best places to shop around with these specs

You might want to look around for some second hand stuff, you can really save a lot if you are willing to do that.

And an AMD CPU might be necessary if you have to cut down on the graphics because you think you need a C2D. A graphics upgrade will always be better than CPU, and the dual core AMD's aren't terrible just because Intel has a better chip now. They are much easier to find second hand.
