The 5g there only refers to 5g Wifi.

Jah, that only does LTE.

The ones I'm finding on Amazon, etc., are magnitudes of order more expensive than 4G ones...

Even home routers with 5G are kark expensive

But do some research and make sure your ISP supports it. They have a list of devices and if it's MTN, my experience is if it's not on the list you're dead in the water.

MTN is in the process of testing NX200 DVT for approval. This should happen shortly.

However user wants for a different location. My advice can still go TP-Link but rather buy in the country when you arrive this way you will have the correct ISP Profile and firmware loaded. This can be messy if you want to use a ZA Unit and have to setup all ISP profiles by hand.

Is your phone not 5G capable with dual sim perhaps? I'd just use the phone depending on how long you're going to be away.

We have, but in PT I usually get a 30-day Vodafone unlimited sim, which works out cheaper for data. So I was thinking of loading that into a mobile router to use as a hotspot while we roadtrip around Europe.
